Singapore Stand on Racism?

Think about this:

When a Singaporean tries to talk racist informally, we treat it as a joke.
When a Singaporean tries to talk racist formally, it is a crime.
However, the Singaporean will apologise for his wrong doing and call himself a joke.
People around him will accept his apology and forgive him.

This is what I like about Singapore. Being tolerant on each race and religion and try to cohabit with one another not only peacefully but happily. Every year, my malay neighbour will always give goodies to my family during Hari Raya Puasa and Chinese New Year and we always chit chat with each other.

The greater challenge is not us but are the foreigners to learn how to tolerate our jokes. They come to Singapore and sometimes will feel slightly offended by us for cracking racist joke, but they meant to be a joke and we never take that seriously. We got to do our part and educate the foreigners on our culture and the foreigners must in return learn to be openminded to learn and accept our culture.

However, I'm still afraid that stereotyping is a unconscious state of mind and it is unavoidable, but we do our very best to be equal to everyone no matter what colour they are and we make sure we really show our effort in promoting racial and religious harmony. So if someone ask me what religion I am, I will tell them that I don't care about my religion. I give great amount of respect to all religions whether they are cult or not. I also learn about the ways of many religions and appreciate the peace that the devotees received in their religion.
