Today is a great day for my girlfriend and me as we went out to botanical garden and watch the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and New York Philharmonic Brass Quintet.
First and foremost, I have finished my Bach essay. An achievement for me as I hate reading books, take reference and interpret it. Which means I now need to prepare for my next essay about classical music. Most probably I'll do the one on Sonata form as I have more things to write and finding information is easier.
Reviews about NYPO brass quintet. The brass quintet is played by 5 of the brass principal player. Unlike the band, the like to blast their instruments, but when they blast, it is well controlled and nice. The horn and trombone can even imitate the saxophone sound in the jazz music. They played a wide selections of music to cater to the audience. Every instrument even shows off a bit of their virtuosity during the performance. As a trumpeter, I realize that the trumpet players actually carries a a B flat trumpet and a C trumpet on stage other than the piccolo trumpet and the flugelhorn. Why is it so? Is it due to the tone quality of the instrument or is it about the transposibility of the instruments?
It was a fun time at botanical garden but it was rather inaccessible to Orchard Road as I couldn't find a bus stop nearby. Not knowing whether tha SIA hop on was free or not, we walked all the way along Nassim Road to Orchard road and took a bus to the glass house in order to savour my long awaited Fish & Co since I returned from Shanghai.
In fact, that was the first time which my girlfriend came to an outing with my bandmates. Though not well planned, we still have great fun talking together.
